CALL ME A PUSSY: Laura Stokes

CCA is proud to premiere the latest one-woman performance from award-winning artist, Laura Stokes, with the U.S. debut of CALL ME A PUSSY. For two weekends in July, CCA’s gallery will be transformed into a stage where Stokes will enact an unforgettable performance that is hilarious, poignant, and impactful.

CALL ME A PUSSY subverts expectations and untangles stereotypes as Laura Stokes embodies and satirizes eight archetypal characters to challenge sexism, individualism, and nationalism. This live show will transport Santa Fe audiences into a world of make-believe and heart-wrenching honesty. Stokes draws influence from early Burlesque movements with the show’s female-lead political satire in an accessible, entertaining format. With hair suspension, brave characters, circus, and otherworldy body puppetry—CALL ME A PUSSY is a timely spectacle to behold.

SHOW DATES: July 15, 16, and 17 from 8-9:30pm and July 22, 23, and 24 from 8-9:30pm. Doors open at 7pm.

Accompanying her performance will be an exhibition of visual works, SUBVERT, created in collaboration with artist Kate Russell.

A cash-only bar will be hosted by HoneyMoon Brewery. Showtime starts at 8pm, with a 90-minute runtime. Read more about the show here.
